Lost-wax casting at over 1,640 degrees drives molten silver into the windmill's delicate fan blades and triangulated tower struts — geometry that would be impossible to achieve through flat stamping. Hand-finishing afterward reveals each blade and cross-brace in polished, reflective clarity.
At their peak, more than six million farm windmills dotted the Great Plains from Texas north to the Dakotas, pumping water from deep aquifers to fill stock tanks and sustain homesteads that would otherwise have been uninhabitable.
