The bead itself is a squat cylinder cross-sectioned like a freshly cut roll: dark nori wrapped around white rice around a center of pink tuna, each concentric ring painted in turn. Pulling off that ringed detail at three-eighths of an inch is the kind of brushwork people stop to inspect up close.
