Lost-wax casting accounts for that depth: the wax model is invested in plaster, burned out at over 1,350 degrees Fahrenheit, and filled with molten sterling under approximately 50 G's of centrifugal force. Hand-finishing through tripoli compound, rouge polish, and a final buff brings out the brightness of the silver before enamel colors are applied and fired permanently in place.
