(.925) Sterling Silver, WATER SPIDER OF THE CHEROKEE INDIAN casting, 3/4 inch , flat back, 3.1 gram charm. Story - the first fire. The water spider brought the first fire to the Cherokee. The fire was burning in a sycamore tree on an island. Many animals went to the island to get the fire. As each tried they met obstacles. The raven flew so close it turned him black. The hot ashes carried by the wind made the white rings around the owls eyes and the little snake became hot in the embers. He turned black and now darts around as if in hot coals. After all gave up, the water spider said she would try. She spun a bowl, placed it on her back and swam to the island with the burning sycamore tree. She placed a coal in her bowl and swam back to give us the first fire.
